Stella Artois

The brewery's history runs through several centuries of Leuven brewing. Sebastian Artois became master brewer at Den Hoorn in 1708 and purchased the brewery outright in 1717, lending the brand the name it carries today. The Stella name, Latin for star, was first used in 1926 for a special Christmas release from the Leuven brewery.

Stella Artois is now a flagship brand within the portfolio of AB InBev, the world's largest brewing company. AB InBev has committed to ensuring that low and no-alcohol products make up at least 20% of its global beer volume by 2025, and the 0.0% variant sits within that strategy. The AF lager is produced through dealcoholisation (brewed at full strength, then had the alcohol removed) with the aim of preserving the pilsner's characteristic flavour profile.
