Fink established Big Drop after struggling to find quality alcohol-free beer following the birth of his first child: existing options at the time were limited, and the craft end of the AF beer market was largely undeveloped. The founding commitment is maintained without exception: every beer in the range is brewed to be alcohol-free from the start, rather than having alcohol removed after fermentation is complete. Big Drop achieves this using a specific low-activity yeast that does not fully ferment the available sugars, combined with a grain bill drawing on barley, rye, wheat, and oats. That mix of grains builds body and mouthfeel across different beer styles without relying on alcohol as a structural element, which is the central technical challenge for any brewery working exclusively at sub-0.5% ABV.

Big Drop operates as a nomadic brewer, producing its beers through a network of partner breweries in the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, and Canada rather than from a single fixed site. That structure allows the brand to brew locally in its key markets, reducing logistics costs and keeping product fresher in each territory. In 2021, Big Drop raised £1,185,111 from 1,145 investors through equity crowdfunding to support international expansion.

The range spans lagers, pale ales, IPAs, stouts, porters, brown ales, and sours, covering a breadth of craft beer styles unusual for a brand operating exclusively at or below 0.5% ABV. That variety gives fitness-focused drinkers a full repertoire of craft formats within a single AF brand rather than requiring them to mix across multiple brands for different occasions.

Distribution covers specialist alcohol-free retailers and mainstream supermarket channels. Pricing sits in the premium bracket relative to mass-market lagers, consistent with the brand's craft positioning.
