Farm Yard Brew Co
Farm Yard Brew Co is a Lancashire craft brewery founded in 2016 by Steven Holmes on a sixth-generation family farm in Cockerham, producing ales from a converted cattle shed.
The brewery was built in a barn that previously housed 200 cattle. All brews use natural spring water drawn directly from the farm, a supply that has been part of the site since the operation began. Farm Yard Brew Co runs as a family-owned micro-producer with a farm-to-glass ethos, its on-site taproom functioning as a destination venue for visitors. The full range spans a core lineup alongside rotating limited releases.
The brewery entered the alcohol-free market in early 2022 with a pale ale. The beer is heavily dry-hopped: hops are added after the boil, preserving the aromatic oils that heat would otherwise drive off, which gives the pale a more pronounced hop character. The beer is designed to carry the same hop-forward profile as the brewery's full-strength pales, positioning it as a reflection of the house style rather than a separately conceived AF product.
Distribution for the alcohol-free range runs through a direct-to-consumer webshop, the farm taproom, and independent bottle shops. There is no mainstream supermarket presence for the AF range.
The combination of on-site spring water, a converted cattle-shed brewery, and a sixth-generation farm backdrop is unusual at this scale. The AF programme is one deliberate addition from a small family operation, narrow in scope but consistent with a brewery that builds its identity around the land it farms and the water it draws from it. The range is a considered option for sober-curious drinkers who want hop-driven craft character from a producer with a genuine agricultural identity.
