The brewery takes its name from the founders' years living in New Zealand: Judit is from Catalonia, Michael from New Zealand, and the brand identity reflects that cross-cultural pairing. The brewery and taproom are housed in a converted rural building in Rupià, a small village in the Baix Empordà region of Catalonia, and the operation runs as an independent micro-brewery focused on small-batch production.

Doskiwis specialises in modern, heavily hopped beer styles with a focus on hazy New England-style IPAs and experimental small batches. New England IPA is a style characterised by low bitterness, a soft mouthfeel, and intense hop aroma from large additions of American and Pacific hop varieties.
