Lost Pier
Lost Pier Brewing is a Brighton-founded craft beer brand established in 2017 by Dan Cook, operating as a gypsy brewery using partner facilities rather than owning a fixed brewhouse. The brand takes its name from Brighton's West Pier, a landmark that anchors its South Coast identity.
The gypsy model, where a brewer owns the recipes and brand identity whilst renting production capacity at established sites, gives Lost Pier flexibility to develop styles that would be impractical at smaller fixed-kit scale. The AF range launched in 2021 and covers IPAs, stouts, and table beer styles. The stout in the range is nitrogen-carbonated: a technique that gives the beer a smooth, creamy texture rather than the sharper finish of standard carbon dioxide carbonation. Nitrogen-finished stouts are common in the on-trade but remain relatively uncommon in the alcohol-free sector. The table beer variant draws on traditional European low-alcohol brewing conventions, adapted for the AF market.
Lost Pier positions itself as modern craft beer from the South Coast. Distribution is multi-channel: the brand sells direct through its own webshop and is stocked through specialist alcohol-free retailers. The range sits in the mid-range bracket for craft AF beer, accessible to sober-curious drinkers who want craft-quality options without paying a premium-tier price. The international reach through specialist retail channels is a notable step for an independent gypsy operation of this size.
