Naesip
Naesip is a Scottish Highlands alcohol-free botanical spirit brand founded in 2021 by Ruaraidh Macpherson, distilled in traditional copper pot stills and sold direct and through specialist retailers.
The name comes from the Scots phrase 'nae sip', meaning 'no sip' of alcohol, a plain statement of the brand's AF positioning. Macpherson founded Naesip after finding that existing alcohol-free spirits lacked the complexity and warmth he associated with traditional spirits, and set out to address that gap from a micro-producer base in the Highlands. The brand's range centres on Munro Botanical Spirit, named after the Scottish mountains known as Munros, rooting the product firmly in its Highland identity. Distillation uses copper pot stills to extract flavour from botanicals, a process that sits at the centre of the brand's identity rather than being incidental to it.
Naesip operates as an independent micro-producer with a narrow distribution footprint, available direct through the brand's own site and through specialist alcohol-free retailers. The brand sits in the premium bracket for AF spirits, and its Highland provenance and distillation-first approach put it alongside a small group of producers who treat AF spirits as a distinct discipline. For sober-curious drinkers who find the mainstream AF spirits market too generic or too closely modelled on gin, Naesip's specific Highland character offers a more particular point of difference.
