Pistonhead is a Swedish craft beer brand created by Spendrups Bryggeri in 2011, inspired by the hot rod and custom car scene, with an AF lager sitting alongside its core alcoholic lineup.

The brand was built around Kustom Kulture, the custom car and hot rod movement, giving it a visual identity rooted in rock music and alternative culture. Spendrups operates its main production facilities in Vårby, Sweden, where Pistonhead was created as a distinct sub-brand with its own aesthetic. The skull logo and attitude-first branding carry consistently across the alcoholic and AF sides of the range, meaning the AF product does not read as a separate or softened product line.

Pistonhead introduced its AF offering, Flat Tire Non-Alcoholic Craft Lager, in 2016, placing it among the earlier craft-positioned AF lagers to reach the market. The alcohol is removed using a gentle evaporation process, and the beer is then dry-hopped with Centennial and Mosaic hops to preserve a fresh, floral aroma. The result is an AF lager where the production method is specifically designed to retain hop character. It is available through mainstream supermarket retail.

Beyond brewing, Pistonhead runs a foundation that provides grants to artists and musicians, extending the brand's connection to the creative community that underpins its identity. The Flat Tire Non-Alcoholic is positioned firmly within the rock and alternative culture aesthetic rather than the wellness-focused framing that many AF brands adopt. The range is focused on the AF side with a single core variant, which keeps the brand's identity coherent rather than diluted.
