Gunner

Founded by Giles Fuchs, the brand is built around the historic Gunner recipe: ginger beer, ginger ale, natural bitters, and lime, blended with all-natural ingredients and no preservatives. The original Gunner drink was created by Ewen Fergusson and Robert Renton at the Singapore Golf Club and spread across British colonial networks in Hong Kong, India, and South East Asia as a cooling long drink at clubs and sports grounds. Fuchs established the London-based brand to bring the recipe into commercial production for a contemporary audience. The canned format launched in July 2021, extending reach beyond the premium on-trade venues where the brand had built its initial foothold. Sales have doubled year-on-year since that launch, according to the company.

In 2022 the range expanded with a variant using aged dark rum at 4.5% ABV, placing Gunner on both sides of the bar. Premium venue placement is central to the distribution strategy: the brand is stocked at The Hurlingham Club, Guards Polo Club, and Royal Lymington Yacht Club, and available in over half of Open Rota golf courses. Gunner has also been selected for the Rod Laver Cup pre-event dinner and the Masterpiece Art Fair at Royal Hospital Chelsea.

Distribution also covers specialist alcohol-free retailers and the brand's direct-to-consumer channel. Designated drivers and weeknight drinkers seeking an occasion-appropriate long drink with a specific historical backstory are the natural audience.
