Švyturys
Švyturys is a brewery founded in Klaipėda, Lithuania in 1784 by merchant J. W. Reincke, the oldest brewery in Western Lithuania and Lithuania's second oldest overall, with an alcohol-free lager among its beers.
Founded by the Reincke family in the Baltic port city of Klaipėda, the brewery has remained based there. The site was rebuilt and resumed production in 1946, a bottling line was installed in 1950, and by 1973 the brewery was producing pasteurised beer. Švyturys uses old German brewing technology with vertical and horizontal containers, making it the only large Lithuanian brewery to operate with both configurations. It was the first Lithuanian brewery to set out to reorganise its production processes according to international quality standards.
Švyturys beers are exported to more than 20 countries worldwide. In 1999, the brewery became the main sponsor of Lithuania's national basketball team. In 2001, Švyturys merged with Utenos Alus to form Švyturys-Utenos Alus, and since 2008 the combined group has been part of the Carlsberg Group.
The brewery produces an alcohol-free lager alongside its mainstream beer range, and one of its drinks has won awards.
