Van Moll
Van Moll is a craft brewery based in Eindhoven, Netherlands, that released its first barrel-aged beer in 2016 and produces a core range spanning blonde ales, IPAs, wheat beers, and imperial stouts. The flagship style in the Van Moll range is an IPA. Van Moll also produces an alcohol-free beer for sober-curious drinkers; one of its alcohol-free beers has picked up an award.
The 2016 barrel-aged release was an imperial stout aged in a Highland Park whisky barrel. Barrel ageing is a technique in which a finished beer is placed into a wooden cask that was previously used to hold another drink. The beer spends time in the cask, gradually absorbing some of the character from the wood and from the traces of whatever the barrel previously held, in this case a Scotch whisky.
Van Moll's beers are brewed in Eindhoven, and its alcohol-free option sits alongside the core range for drinkers who want a craft beer experience without the alcohol.
