SiWC

Back to brands

SiWC (South Island Wine Company) is an Essex-based alcohol-free beer brand founded by brothers James and George, producing contract-brewed AF beers shaped by a philosophical identity rooted in Stoicism.

The brand started out as a wine company before the founders redirected their focus to alcohol-free beer, a shift they describe as a deepening passion for the AF category. Production is handled through contract brewing, with SiWC working alongside experienced partner breweries rather than running its own facility, giving the brand flexibility in recipe development and scale.

The brand's identity centres on Memento Mori, the Latin phrase for "remember you will die," drawn from Stoic philosophy. That concept names the core beer range and defines the brand character, distinguishing SiWC from the lifestyle-driven AF labels that make up the majority of the category. The Memento Mori range focuses on hoppy styles, with hazy IPAs as a lead format, pitched at sober-curious beer drinkers who want craft-beer character without the alcohol.

The philosophical framing is unusual in the AF beer space, which otherwise leans heavily on wellness and social-occasion positioning. Distribution runs through specialist alcohol-free retailers.
