Allacher

Also known as Allacher Vinum Pannonia, the winery has produced wines for generations from its Altenberg and Salzberg vineyard sites. Allacher takes a sustainable approach to viticulture and achieved full organic certification in 1992.

Its range covers fresh and fruity whites, full-bodied reds and sweet wines, alongside an alcohol-free still wine. To produce the AF wine, Allacher picks grapes early, ferments them at low ABV, then de-alcoholises the result, a process that removes the alcohol after fermentation. Muscat Ottonel grapes go into the white; Zweigelt, a variety indigenous to Austria, is used in the red.

Allacher has been working to reduce histamine levels in its wines since 2005 and has carried out formal histamine testing since 2009. Its wines are produced with reduced sulphites. The winery's alcohol-free wine has won awards.
