Asahi is a Japanese brewery with roots in Osaka dating to 1889, and today the largest beer brewer in Japan by market share, with an alcohol-free lager in its range. The Osaka Beer Brewing Company was established that year, with Asahi Beer first brewed in 1892. The name Asahi translates to "morning sun" in Japanese. Asahi Breweries was incorporated in 1949 following the breakup of Dai Nippon Breweries, and the group now holds a 37% share of the Japanese beer market.

In 1987, Asahi introduced its flagship lager, Japan's first dry draft beer, a highly attenuated style that became the brand's defining product internationally. Asahi launched Japan's first canned beer in 1958 and moved to aluminium canning in 1971, a first for the country.

Asahi Group Holdings has grown through acquisition, adding Meantime Brewery in the UK in 2016, along with Peroni Brewery and Pilsner Urquell that same year, Fuller's beer business in 2019, Carlton & United Breweries in 2020, and Octopi Brewing in North America in 2024. UK operations are based in Woking, Surrey.

The alcohol-free lager in Asahi's range is brewed under the supervision of Japanese master brewers, using barley malt, corn grits, hops, corn starch, and natural flavours, and sits within Asahi's wider portfolio as an option for sober-curious drinkers and those who favour a familiar lager format without alcohol.
