B. Nektar
B. Nektar Meadery is an American meadery based in Ferndale, Michigan, that produces meads and an alcohol-free mocktail line, and holds the position of the largest meadery in the USA.
The brand was founded in 2006 by Brad Dahlhofer and Kerri Dahlhofer, with the help of Paul Zimmerman. Its origins trace to Kerri Dahlhofer being laid off, after which the two decided to sell the homebrew mead they had been making in their basement. Brad Dahlhofer had been an avid homebrewer since 1998. B. Nektar opened on 2 August 2008 in a small garage outside Detroit, in Ferndale, and Brad Dahlhofer serves as co-founder and CEO.
The meadery produces meads that extend beyond traditional honey wine. Its alcohol-free range sits under the SOBER product line: mocktails made by hand from real fruit juice, agave nectar and natural flavours. One drink in the range has picked up awards.
The business employs around 30 people and reports revenue of approximately $6 million. As the largest meadery in the USA, B. Nektar serves mead enthusiasts and sober-curious drinkers through its combination of traditional mead production and alcohol-free mocktails.
