Beefeater
Beefeater is a London dry gin distilled in London, England, following a recipe that dates to 1863. James Burrough created the original formula in that year, and the gin has been produced to the same specification ever since. The process steeps nine botanicals for 24 hours before distillation. The brand's name is drawn from the Yeomen of the Guard, the ceremonial guardians of the Tower of London. Pernod Ricard acquired Beefeater in 2005.
The alcohol-free alternative in Beefeater's range is produced in London using the same botanical blend as the London Dry gin, including juniper, citrus peel, and coriander. The result carries a juniper-forward character with notes of orange, lemon, and rose, and an aroma of citrus and spice drawn from the original gin's botanical make-up.
In January 2021, Beefeater transitioned its bottle to recycled glass, replaced the plastic cap with an aluminium closure, and switched the cap label from PVC to paper. The London distillery, which had remained closed to visitors for 150 years, has since been opened to the public for guided tours.
