Bergenbier
Bergenbier is a Romanian beer brand launched in 1995, with a name taken from the German for "mountain beer" to represent a promise of quality, freshness and purity of ingredients. The brand's origins lie in 1994, when Interbrew acquired beer-production facilities in Blaj and Baia Mare in Romania, laying the groundwork for Bergenbier's introduction the following year. The brand owns its own brewery in Ploiești and has achieved brand awareness above 95% among consumers in Romania.
In April 2012, Molson Coors Brewing Company acquired StarBev, the holding company for Bergenbier S.A., in a transaction valued at 2.6 billion euros. As part of the same acquisition, Molson Coors took on Bergenbier S.A.'s production operations, and the brand now sits within Molson Coors' international portfolio.
Bergenbier produces an alcohol-free beer alongside its mainstream lager range, distributed through multiple retail channels. The alcohol-free option is suited to designated drivers and sober-curious drinkers who want a recognisable Romanian beer without the alcohol.
