Brew York
Brew York is a craft brewery founded in York in 2016, producing an alcohol-free range alongside a wider lineup of lagers, IPAs, stouts and sours. The brewery was started by Wayne Smith and Lee Grabham, two friends who met at a mutual friend's stag do and discovered a shared enthusiasm for craft beer that led them to begin home-brewing together.
The original brewery sits within York's historic city walls, a fifteen-minute walk from the train station, and operates as a ten-barrel brewhouse that specialises in barrel-aged and mixed fermentation beers. It is paired with a beer hall, taproom, kitchen and riverside beer garden. A second, larger twin 30-barrel production facility has since been built in Osbaldwick to the east of the city. Brew York brews in cask, keg and can, drawing inspiration from the Yorkshire surroundings.
The core range spans hazy IPAs, pastry stouts and fruited sours, with at least twenty different fresh beers brewed across the year. A low and alcohol-free product line sits alongside this. Beyond brewing, the brewery runs several venues across Yorkshire, including a beer hall in York and pubs in Pocklington, Otley, Knaresborough and Carlton, several of which also offer accommodation. A Beer Club subscription box and a Brewery Bash event in 2026 extend the brewery's hospitality offering.
