Burning Sky is a farmhouse brewery founded in 2013 by Mark Tranter in Firle, East Sussex, on a restored farm within the South Downs National Park.

Tranter spent 17 years at Sussex brewery Dark Star, becoming head brewer there in 2001, and put every penny earned during that time into establishing Burning Sky. The brewery describes itself as Artisan Brewers and Blenders and specialises in hop-forward pale ales, saisons, and barrel-aged wild ales. It was the first craft brewery in the UK to install oak foudres for ageing beers, and has since added a coolship for spontaneously fermented production. Wild yeast from the South Downs is used in fermentation, and all beers leave the brewery unfiltered. Burning Sky draws on a blend of traditional Belgian brewing techniques and modern British craft beer methods, producing up to 10,000 litres per week.

Its packaging is 100% biodegradable and recyclable, and illustrator Simon Gane creates all of the label artwork. The brewery has collaborated with other British producers on barrel-aged projects, including a joint beer with Thornbridge that started in March 2019.

Burning Sky's alcohol-free beer is brewed using Maris Otter, Munich and Chateau Aroma malts, alongside Chinook, Citra and Nelson Sauvin hops. It is hop dipped and finished with Hop Kief, a concentrated lupulin powder used to intensify hop character.
