Choya is an umeshu maker that began making and selling umeshu in 1959, and on Practically Clear it is listed for a non-alcoholic spirit.

The company was incorporated in 1962, with roots in grape growing from 1914; its late chairman, Kondo Sumitaro, began brewing and selling fresh grape wine on his own. Its range includes liqueurs, brandies, sweet fruit wines and herbal liquors. Choya says its mission is to protect and spread the tradition of umeshu, handed down for about 300 years, and to pursue new possibilities for it.
