Cobra Beer is a British lager brand founded in Fulham, London, in 1989 by Lord Karan Bilimoria and Arjun Reddy, with an alcohol-free lager in the range since 2005. The beer was designed from the outset to be smoother and less carbonated than standard lager, suited to pairing with food, particularly Indian cuisine. The recipe draws on seven ingredients, including rice and maize, to achieve that character, and Cobra's presence across the Indian restaurant sector became a defining marker of the brand, with the lager supplied to over 90% of UK Indian restaurants.

In 2009, Molson Coors acquired a 50.1% stake for £14 million, forming a joint venture with Lord Bilimoria that continues to govern the brand today.

The alcohol-free lager was launched in 2005, placing it among the earliest mainstream AF beers commercially available. It is brewed at full strength and then dealcoholised (the alcohol is removed after the brewing process is complete), carrying the same food-pairing intent as the core range. The 2005 launch gives Cobra a longer history in the alcohol-free category than almost any other mass-market lager brand, predating the current wave of consumer interest by more than a decade.

For sober-curious drinkers who want a familiar, food-friendly lager with a long track record, the alcohol-free offering is available through specialist retailers. Cobra's scale and Molson Coors backing give it stability at mid-range pricing that few independent AF brands can match.
