Fieldwork
Fieldwork Brewing Company is a California brewery, co-founded in Berkeley in 2015 by Barry Braden and Alex Tweet, that produces alcohol-free beers, hop water, and functional sparkling beverages.
Tweet serves as co-founder and brewer. The brewery's alcohol-free beers are made using maltose-negative yeast, a strain that cannot metabolise maltose (the main fermentable sugar in malted barley), allowing the beer to ferment without generating significant alcohol. The AF range also includes hop water and Supertonics: sparkling drinks infused with adaptogens and nootropics, suited to sober-curious drinkers.
The original Berkeley taproom, in West Berkeley, offers more than twenty beers on tap, with a continually changing selection of fresh releases. The brand now operates taprooms in Corte Madera, Monterey, Napa, Sacramento, San Leandro, San Mateo, and San Ramon. The San Leandro site is the largest beer garden and taproom in the network, and Fieldwork has expanded indoor and outdoor capacity at its Napa Valley location. Alcohol-free products are available at select retailers in the Bay Area, across all taproom locations, and directly online. Fieldwork has partnered with Olympic swimming medalist Abbey Weitzeil, and one of its drinks has picked up awards.
The Fieldwork Community Fund Committee donated $40,000 to eleven non-profits.
