Früh is a Cologne-based brewery founded in 1904 by Peter Joseph Früh, producing Kölsch beer and an alcohol-free variant from its historic brewhouse situated directly next to Cologne Cathedral.

The brewery remains independently owned and family-run, now managed by the fifth generation of the Früh family. A distinguishing feature of Früh's position in the alcohol-free category is the Kölsch style itself: Kölsch carries a protected geographical indication within the European Union, meaning only breweries in or near Cologne may produce beer under that name. This geographical restriction gives Früh's AF offering a cultural and regional specificity that few alcohol-free beers can claim. The Brauhaus Früh am Dom has operated as a Cologne institution for over a century, rooting the brand firmly in the city's identity.

Früh launched its 0.0% alcohol-free Kölsch in 2019. The beer is brewed to full strength before the alcohol is removed through vacuum distillation, a process carried out at reduced pressure, which lowers the boiling point and allows the delicate aromatics of the Kölsch to be preserved without exposure to damaging heat. The brand positions the AF variant as isotonic and suitable for active lifestyles, making it a practical choice for fitness-focused drinkers seeking a post-exercise beer.

The alcohol-free range is a single product, available through specialist alcohol-free retailers. It sits at a premium price point relative to domestic AF lagers, consistent with its provenance and the protected-status name behind it.
