Galvanina

The spring sits at the foot of Paradise Hill, once the site of ancient Roman baths, and gave the brand its name. Galvanina began as an artisan bottling operation at the turn of the twentieth century, with industrial-scale production starting in 1928. Four generations of family ownership followed before private equity firm Riverside acquired a majority stake in 2019. The company now operates three production facilities drawing from three separate springs: Galvanina near Rimini, Val di Meti in the central Apennines, and San Giuliano.

Products reach more than fifty countries, with exports to the US and Canada having started as far back as 1987. For a brand that began as a local Italian mineral water producer, that international reach is a reflection of decades of distribution work rather than recent category momentum. The entire organic soft drinks range uses fruit and flavourings sourced from southern Italy and the wider Mediterranean Basin, combined with naturally carbonated spring water from the Galvanina source.

Galvanina launched its mocktail line in 2024, representing the brand's most direct move into the alcohol-free drinks category. The range focuses on Italian aperitivo-style formats, built from organic ingredients and presented in Galvanina's distinctive sculpted embossed glass bottles. The packaging reads as premium at a restaurant table without requiring explanation, and the Italian provenance gives the range a clear visual and flavour identity.

Distribution spans specialist and premium food retail channels across multiple markets. Galvanina predates the no-low movement by close to a century, which places it in a different position from the purpose-built AF brands that have driven category growth since the 2010s. For sober-curious drinkers who want an aperitif-occasion drink rooted in Italian organic food culture rather than a recreation of an alcoholic product, the brand brings long production credentials to a format the category is still developing.
