Ketterer is a family-owned German brewery founded in 1877 by Michael Ketterer, based in Hornberg in the Black Forest region of southwest Germany, and currently run by the fourth and fifth generations of the Ketterer family.

The brewery draws its brewing water from its own spring sources in the Hornberg slate rock, a geological feature of the local Black Forest landscape. This on-site water source has been a consistent element of the brewing process since the original founding and gives the beers a mineral profile tied to the specific geology of the region. Ketterer is a member of Die Freien Brauer, a European association of independent family breweries, which brings together producers that remain outside major corporate ownership.

The alcohol-free range covers traditional German styles, including pilsners and wheat beers, making AF versions of the classic formats that anchor the main lineup. Alongside the beer business, Ketterer operates the Hornberger Lebensquell mineral water brand, drawing on the same spring water sources that supply the brewery.

Ketterer targets the sober-curious drinker who wants access to classic German brewing traditions without the alcohol, backed by nearly 150 years of continuous family brewing in a single Black Forest location. The combination of long family ownership, regional water sourcing, and membership of an independent brewers' association gives Ketterer a coherent identity that sits apart from the mass-market end of the German AF beer category.
