Kopparberg
Kopparberg is a Swedish fruit cider brand from the town of Kopparberg, Sweden, where the brewery was first established in 1882 by 36 regional brewers. The brewery was re-established in 1994 when brothers Peter Bronsman and Dan-Anders Bronsman purchased the company, and remains independently owned by the Bronsman family. It is Sweden's largest cider brewing company and the main employer for the town of Kopparberg.
Most of the brewery burnt down in a massive fire in 1995. Kopparberg reintroduced sweet cider in 1996, and its first export market was Greece in 1997. The brand began exporting to the UK in 2006 and is credited as the first fruit cider in that market. It introduced pear cider to the UK in 2007. In 2013, Kopparberg entered a global distribution partnership with SABMiller, and its fruit ciders are listed in 37 countries worldwide.
The brand's ciders are made from the fermentation of apples or pears with mineral water. Kopparberg is the world's best-selling pear cider and the bestselling fruit cider brand in the UK. In 2015, the brand launched the world's first Frozen Fruit Cider. The range has since expanded to include spirits, with a gin launched in 2019 and a vodka in 2021, alongside an existing portfolio of cider, beer, soda, and table water.
The alcohol-free range spans fruit ciders and gin-style drinks, suited to sober-curious drinkers. Kopparberg is listed on the NGM Nordic MTF in Sweden.
