Kronenbourg 1664

Back to brands

Kronenbourg 1664 is a French lager brand with origins in Strasbourg dating to 1664, now owned by the Carlsberg Group, with an alcohol-free range extending its flagship lager and wheat beer styles.

The brewery's history begins in 1664 when Geronimus Hatt, newly qualified as a master brewer, established the Brasserie du Canon in the centre of Strasbourg. In 1850, the operation relocated to higher ground in the Cronenbourg district of the city to escape flooding from the River Ill, a move that gave the brand its name. Kronenbourg 1664 is today the most consumed French beer in the world and forms a significant part of the Carlsberg Group's international portfolio.

The brand brews with Strisselspalt hops, grown in the Alsace region, a variety known for its distinctive aromatic character and closely associated with the Kronenbourg identity. The AF lineup was developed to carry those same brewing credentials into the alcohol-free space, including citrus-forward wheat beer styles.

Widely available through mainstream supermarkets and specialist retailers internationally, the range suits sober-curious drinkers seeking a well-established lager brand in AF format.
