Lakedown Brewing
Lakedown Brewing Co is a family-run, independent brewery in Burwash, East Sussex, founded in 2020, producing both alcoholic and alcohol-free beers. Co-founded by Jamie Daltrey, Des Murphy, and Christopher Rule, the brewery sits on a family farm in the Wealden Valley, originally designed as a peaceful retreat by Roger Daltrey, with the vision of creating a local brewery that brings people together and celebrates the East Sussex countryside.
Its microbrewery and taproom opened in September 2023 at Roger Daltrey's trout fishery, with the taproom housed in the old Fisherman's Lodge. The brewery launched with six beer varieties and also produces experimental brews alongside its core range. All beers are brewed with Sussex Spring Water and include barley among the ingredients. Beer is available in can, bottle, keg, and cask.
The alcohol-free range spans pale ales, best bitters, and German pilsners, styles that sit naturally with weeknight drinkers seeking alcohol-free options in familiar formats. The pale ales in the range are dry hopped, meaning hops are added after fermentation to build hop aroma rather than bitterness. The full range is available from the brand's own website.
