Martinelli's
Martinelli's, based in Watsonville, California, makes alcohol-free sparkling ciders and apple juices, from a company founded in 1868 by Stephen Martinelli. The company gave up hard cider to make non-alcoholic sparkling cider, though it later added an alcoholic hard cider.
Martinelli's says it became the "Champagne of the movies" when Prohibition-era filmmakers used its sparkling cider in place of Champagne on set. In 1945 a survey of apple juice by the National Apple Institute and the U.S. Department of Agriculture named S. Martinelli & Company "the only consistently Grade A brand". The brand says its drinks have won many awards.
