MESHIL
MESHIL is a South Korean alcohol-free spirit made from maesil, the green plum cultivated in the Hadong region, fermented for three years using a process similar to wine-making.
Maesil, the Korean green plum, has a long tradition in Korean food culture, and MESHIL was founded by Donghyun Won with the specific aim of bringing this traditional plum beverage to a global audience. The brand is the first launched under Hanorga, a company backed by STX Corporation.
The fruit is sourced from farms in the Hadong region of South Korea. Production begins with the plums being marinated in honey and sugar before a three-year fermentation that mirrors wine-making, allowing the fruit's character to develop fully over time. The result is an organic juice that draws its flavour from a single, regionally specific ingredient.
MESHIL sits within the growing market for sober-curious drinkers seeking alcohol-free alternatives with genuine cultural provenance. One of its drinks has picked up awards, and the brand's ambition to bring a deeply rooted Korean ingredient into the international mainstream gives it a clear foothold in the alcohol-free market.
