Mova Brewing
Mova Brewing is a craft brewery in Dnipro, in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region, founded in 2017 as a small contract operation by Bogdan Tochka and two friends. The brewery has been producing beer under its own brand since 2018, and opened its own manufacturing facility in Dnipro in 2021. Alongside a lineup of lagers, pilsners, amber ales, witbiers, stouts, and IPAs, Mova produces an alcohol-free dark beer aimed at sober-curious drinkers, made using a stopped fermentation method, meaning the fermentation process is halted before a significant level of alcohol develops. One of its beers has won awards.
Mova's pilsner is brewed by the decoction method using Ukrainian-grown hops for bittering. The brewery maintains a certified laboratory with modern equipment. Beyond production, Mova runs an annual two-week festival of music, food, and beer; supports brewing education through courses at a local university; has published a book on the brewing history of the Dnipropetrovsk region; and operates a beer museum in Dnipro.
The brewery exports to Norway, Denmark, Poland, and the Netherlands, and describes its mission as helping different people find a common language.
Operating during a period of conflict, Mova has equipped its brewery with redundant power sources, including a solid-fuel steam generator and a diesel generator, to maintain production during power outages, and has raised funds to support Ukrainian troops through various collaborations.
