NKD
NKD is a Louisville-based alcohol-free spirits brand, founded during the pandemic after CEO Becca Gardner returned to Kentucky following ten years working at Deloitte in New York. Originally launched under the name NKD LDY and founded as a three-woman business with co-founder Carrie Casler, the company later rebranded to its current name. It took a year and hundreds of tests to develop the first recipe; a further year was subsequently spent refining a new formulation in response to consumer feedback.
NKD makes zero-proof spirits formulated for real cocktails. Its range is rooted in classic Old World gin traditions, with products built on organic juniper, coriander, gentian root, and citrus peel. All products are alcohol-free.
Founded in Shelbyville, Kentucky, and now based in Louisville, the brand was inspired in part by the alcohol-free scene in London, and its founders describe its origins as rooted in Kentucky's bootleg heritage. NKD aims to encourage inclusivity for sober drinkers in bar and social settings. Two of its drinks have picked up awards.
