Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt
Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt is a German wine estate based in the Mosel region with documented roots stretching back to 1349, producing an alcohol-free Riesling alongside its traditional range.
The Kesselstatt name appears in regional records as early as 1349. For centuries the estate was held by the Imperial Counts von Kesselstatt, before the Gunther Reh family purchased it in 1978. Annegret Reh-Gartner led the estate from 1983 until her death in 2016, a period during which its international standing grew considerably. Her husband Gerhard Gartner has continued that work since. The estate's headquarters have been at Schloss Marienlay in Morscheid since 1999.
Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt is the only estate in the region to hold vineyards across all three major river valleys: the Mosel, the Saar, and the Ruwer. The estate is a member of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Pradikatsweinguter), the association of elite German wine estates.
The alcohol-free Riesling is produced using vacuum distillation, a process carried out at reduced pressure that lowers the boiling point of the liquid and protects the wine's delicate aromatics from heat damage during dealcoholisation. The method is chosen specifically to preserve the character of the Mosel grapes through the process.
The AF range suits sober-curious drinkers with an interest in fine wine who want recognisable Mosel Riesling character without the alcohol.
