Riegele
Riegele is a multi-generational family brewery in Augsburg, Bavaria, currently managed by the 27th and 28th generations of the same family, with an alcohol-free beer lineup produced alongside a specialist craft range.
The brewery's long continuity is illustrated by the breadth of its commercial activity: by 1956, Brauhaus Riegele had created and trademarked Spezi, a cola-and-orange-juice soft drink mix that became closely associated with the Augsburg region and remains a Riegele trademark today.
Riegele brews its wheat beers using traditional open fermentation, a method where beer ferments in open, unsealed vessels rather than in closed tanks. The brewery continues to use this technique alongside its more modern production lines. The alcohol-free beer range spans multiple beer styles and sits within a BierManufaktur series the brewery maintains for specialty craft brewing.
Brauhaus Riegele also operates a BierAkademie, a dedicated venue where the brewery shares knowledge about beer culture and brewing practice with consumers. For sober-curious drinkers, the AF beers represent access to a brewery with deep roots in Augsburg's brewing tradition and an unusually broad commercial history built across many generations.
