Tempest Brewing

Gavin, who had worked as a chef, and Annika established the brewery after meeting at a brewpub in British Columbia, beginning commercial production from a ten-barrel system in a disused dairy at Winchester Row in Kelso. In February 2015, the brewery relocated to a 30-hectolitre facility in Tweedbank, also in the Scottish Borders, where it remains based. Tempest is a cult brewery that has been in operation for more than a decade and has been ranked the 92nd best brewery in the world.

The alcohol-free beers and cider are suited to sober-curious drinkers and designated drivers. In November 2024, Tempest opened a taproom in Tweedbank, configured in the style of a big American brewery taproom, where alcohol-free beers and cider are available alongside the rest of the range.
