Thrive

D'Hoore founded Thrive after training for an Ironman triathlon and finding no beer on the market that actively supported physical recovery. That gap prompted the team to develop a range built around nutritional function rather than simply replicating the taste of conventional beer. The brand is headquartered in Ghent and operates as an independent Belgian scale-up with no parent company involvement.

The nutritional profiles of Thrive's beers were developed in collaboration with KU Leuven (the University of Leuven), a partnership that underpins the brand's credibility within the sports and fitness space. A patented process allows the beers to carry 10 grams of protein per serving without affecting flavour. That protein content is the central technical claim distinguishing Thrive from standard AF lagers and IPAs.

The range comprises functional AF beers oriented around different moments in an active lifestyle: recovery-focused formats containing protein and BCAAs (branched-chain amino acids used in sports nutrition to support muscle repair), vitamin-enriched IPAs fortified with vitamins B and D, and relaxation-oriented formats. This breadth of function-first design is unusual within the AF beer category, where most producers focus on taste approximation rather than nutritional engineering.

Distribution runs through direct-to-consumer sales, specialist alcohol-free retailers, and stocking points including gyms and sports shops. Pricing sits firmly in the premium bracket, reflecting the functional ingredient profile and the specialist distribution model.
