Törley
Törley is a Hungarian sparkling wine brand with roots dating to 1895, when the company was appointed purveyor to the Imperial and Royal Court of Austro-Hungary.
For more than a century the brand has produced sparkling wine in Hungary, building a range that spans traditional-method, transvasée, and tank-method (Charmat) styles alongside an alcohol-free line. In 2005 Törley became part of Henkell Freixenet, the German-based international sparkling wine group with operations across Europe and beyond. That ownership provides Törley with the production and distribution infrastructure of a large European wine business, whilst the brand retains its Hungarian identity and long-standing market presence.
The alcohol-free sparkling wines are made by vacuum distillation, a process that removes alcohol from the finished wine at reduced pressure. Lowering the pressure lowers the boiling point, allowing the alcohol to evaporate without the heat that would otherwise damage the wine's delicate aromatics and strip the flavour.
For pregnant consumers and others seeking a celebratory sparkling drink without alcohol, Törley's AF range sits at the more established end of the market, backed by over a century of Hungarian sparkling wine production.
