Track Brewing started in a railway arch beneath Manchester Piccadilly Station, which tells you quite a lot about the brewery's character. Founder Sam Dyson, a former sound engineer, spent two years cycling across the globe in the late 2000s and came back with a head full of American hop-forward brewing. He put in time at Camden Town Brewery in London before heading north to set up Track in 2014 or 2015, building the kind of compact, technically-minded craft operation that the Northern Quarter crowd took to immediately.

Sonoma, the flagship pale ale, became the brewery's calling card. Named after California wine country, it leans hard into Citra and Mosaic hops, delivering grapefruit and mango aromatics with a clean, dry finish. That beer has been around long enough to celebrate birthdays, and Track has leaned into the anniversary culture with limited editions and seasonal variants that keep the core range feeling alive.

The alcohol-free work is a natural extension of what Track does best. Sonoma AF (0.5%) carries the same hop character as the original, and by most accounts it holds up well. The AF range also includes SANS, a 0.5% IPA built around Citra and some newer hop varieties, and Arosa AF, a 0.5% Helles lager for those who want something lighter and more European. There's also a hop-infused sparkling water at 0.0% for people who want the hop aroma experience without any alcohol whatsoever.

Track sits firmly in the premium craft tier. These are not supermarket own-brands or mass-produced line extensions. The AF beers are sold through specialist online retailers like Dry Drinker and directly through the brewery's own shop, alongside mixed packs that let drinkers try the range. There's a taproom too, which is the best place to understand what the brewery is actually about.

Manchester has a strong craft brewing scene and Track is one of its more established names. The AF range benefits from the same brewing rigour applied to the alcoholic beers, which tends to show.
