Utenos
Utenos Alus is a Lithuanian brewery established in 1977 in Kloviniai, a village approximately 5 kilometres southwest of Utena, that produces lager-style beers and includes an alcohol-free radler in its range. Construction of the brewery was overseen by Gediminas Jackevičius. The brewery draws its water from 615 feet underground as part of a traditional recipe.
In 1980, Utenos Alus supplied soft drinks for the Moscow Olympics. In 2007, the brewery introduced the first beer sold in transparent bottles on the Lithuanian market. In January 2001, Utenos Alus merged with Švyturys Brewery to form Švyturys-Utenos Alus UAB, and the Carlsberg Group took full ownership in 2008. A Modern Brewing Knowledge Centre opened at the Kloviniai site in autumn 2012.
The core range spans pale lagers, pilsners, and dunkels, and the brewery also produces ciders and soft drinks. The alcohol-free radler is a natural option for designated drivers and sober-curious drinkers.
