About This Drink
The radler format is a simple idea: dilute a lager with something citrusy. Veltins' version does it at 0.0%, mixing their alcohol-free pilsner with lemon lemonade, using lemon juice from concentrate and natural lemon aroma to drive the flavour. Lemon is what you get, from first sniff through to the finish. The acidity is sharp and upfront, with the sweetness from the lemonade element rounding it out rather than fighting it. There's some gentle bitterness in the background from the beer component, and the malt barely registers. The body is light and the carbonation keeps things moving. It doesn't hang around, which is the point. If you want something with more beer character, the straight Pilsener Alkoholfrei is the better call. This one leans firmly into the lemon-drink territory.
