Mārū NZ Extra Pale Ale

A 0.5% NZ-inspired extra pale from Burnt Mill and Suffolk's Zeer Brewing — Superdelic, Nelson Sauvin, and Motueka hops give it that distinctive tropical and vinous character the style is known for.

About This Drink

Mārū came about when Burnt Mill teamed up with Zeer Brewing, a Suffolk outfit that has made alcohol-free beer their specialism. The collaboration gave Burnt Mill a knowledge base to work from, and the beer draws its identity firmly from the New Zealand hop playbook — three varieties that each bring something specific to the glass. Superdelic and Nelson Sauvin do most of the flavour work here, pushing out bright tropical fruit alongside the unmistakable white grape and gooseberry edge that Nelson Sauvin is known for. Motueka plays a supporting role, adding citrus lemon and lime to round things out. It is lively and aromatic without being aggressive. The beer is gluten-free, which is worth noting for those who need it. At 0.5% it sits in the standard AF range, though the hop character gives it more going on than the ABV might suggest. A solid entry into the NZ pale style from a brewery that clearly put thought into the brief.
