About This Drink
The Lemon is the most straightforward of the Fassbrause range - lemon juice concentrate over an alcohol-free beer base, with gum arabic as the stabiliser and no added colourings beyond what the lemon brings. The formula is clean by the standards of the range. The citrus is direct and a little tart rather than sweet - 6.2g sugar per 100ml puts it in the middle of the range. The beer contributes a light grain character that keeps the drink anchored, so it doesn't read purely as a lemon cordial. There's genuine interplay between the hop bitterness and the citrus acidity, which makes it worth drinking rather than just functional. Like all A. Le Coq Fassbrause drinks, it's vitamin-enriched (B6, B12, B5, B7) and considerably lower calorie than most lemon-flavoured soft drinks. The style originally comes from Germany, where it's still most popular around Berlin. Best served very cold. A good option for anyone who finds straight sparkling water too dull but wants to keep sugar intake down.
