Zero Cabernet Sauvignon

An Australian de-alcoholised Cabernet Sauvignon from Accolade Wines, notable for restraint on the sweetness that trips up so many AF reds.

About This Drink

&Then is Accolade Wines' answer to the problem of alcohol-free red wine: how do you strip out the alcohol without losing everything that makes a Cab Sav worth drinking? Their approach involves working with South Australian cool climate grapes, then de-alcoholising carefully enough that the fruit character and structure survive the process. The result is drier and more genuinely wine-like than most of what you find in this category. Dark berry fruit up front, a hint of eucalyptus and menthol that reads as distinctly Australian, and some oak-derived spice in the background. There is a slight bitter finish that some people will love and others won't, but it has the feel of an actual tasting decision rather than an accident. At around 20 calories per 100ml and 0.05% ABV, it is one of the lower-calorie AF reds around. Widely available at Morrisons, and worth picking up if the usual AF red wine sweetness has put you off the category.
