Winzer Mulled Wine
An alcohol-free mulled wine built on dealcoholised Merlot from Rheingau estate Weingut Leitz, spiced with traditional glühwein herbs, gingerbread spices, and orange.
About This Drink
Dr. Jaglas was founded by a pharmacist family in Berlin, and that background shows in how they approach alcohol-free drinks — with a certain precision, and an insistence on quality base ingredients. For this mulled wine they went to Weingut Leitz, a respected VDP estate in the Rheingau, whose dealcoholised Merlot provides the foundation. It's a thoughtful starting point: proper wine character rather than grape juice standing in for wine. The result is a warming, spiced drink that sits closer to actual mulled wine than most alcohol-free versions manage. Cinnamon, clove, and cardamom come through clearly; the orange juice concentrate adds a citrus thread that lifts what would otherwise be a heavy profile. There's genuine tannin structure from the Merlot base, and the sweetness — while present — doesn't tip into the syrupy territory that plagues lesser alcohol-free mulled wines. It's a limited edition winter release, so availability comes and goes. If you spot it, it's worth picking up a bottle or two. Serve warm in a mug rather than a wine glass, and don't overthink it.
