Mahala Botanical Amber is a dark alcohol-free spirit, made at the Dona Distillery in Cape Town, South Africa, and launched in March 2023. It was created by master distiller Danielle Schoeman, who co-founded the brand, and is made by hand in an all-female distillery. Production runs across custom-built stills, with the drink triple distilled and its botanicals infused under vacuum, meaning at low pressure to protect the aromatics. Nine botanicals are sourced by hand, among them honeybush, a South African plant that gives a sweet floral edge. The flavour carries smoke, spice and oak alongside that floral sweetness, and it closes on a long, warm and spicy finish.
