0.0% Alcohol Free Red Wine Based Drink
A 0.0% red wine alternative built from de-alcoholised wine and grape must, with blackcurrant and red berry character.
About This Drink
This is Sainsbury's entry-level red wine alternative — no vintage, no region on the label, just a straightforward dealcoholised product aimed squarely at people who want something wine-adjacent at the dinner table without the alcohol. The base is 92% dealcoholised wine topped up with rectified concentrated grape must and flavourings, which explains the slightly artificial edge that reviewers tend to clock. Flavour-wise you're in blackcurrant and red berry territory, which is at least honest to the label. The body is on the lighter side — thinness is a recurring note in reviews — and it won't convince anyone it's a full-bodied Shiraz. But for what it is, it's not bad. At around £3 a bottle, it sits firmly in the "good enough for a weeknight" bracket. If you want the most convincing red wine impression possible, this isn't it. If you want something grape-based that looks fine in a glass, it works well enough.
