About This Drink
Sobah's Boab + Wild Ginger Lager uses sorghum instead of barley to achieve a gluten-free base, with wild ginger and boab nut pulp added post-fermentation. Boab grows in the Kimberley region of Western Australia and has been a food source for First Nations peoples for thousands of years. Here it contributes a mild citrus note and a slightly syrupy texture rather than any assertive flavour. The ginger is the more obvious presence. It's not the sharp carbonated bite of a ginger beer - it's a warmer, more aromatic spice that sits alongside the hop character rather than dominating it. Pale golden in the glass, with light and crisp carbonation, it finishes clean with a lingering spice note. Chemical-free, vegan, and brewed without producing ethanol rather than through dealcoholisation.
