Whitley Neill
Whitley Neill is a London-founded gin brand established in 2005, producing flavoured gins and a range of 0.0% AF botanical spirits, now owned by Halewood Artisanal Spirits.
Founder Johnny Neill is the eighth generation of his family to work in distilling, with a lineage traceable to 1762, and that heritage shapes the brand's positioning as a flavour-forward gin house with genuine craft roots. In 2021, production moved to the City of London Distillery, making Whitley Neill the only premium gin brand distilled in the City of London. The original gin was built around botanicals with a global reach, incorporating Cape Gooseberries and Baobab fruit drawn from the African continent, reflecting the founder's personal connection to the region.
The alcohol-free range launched in late 2022 and has since grown to four variants. The 0.0% products are made from full-strength Whitley Neill gin, de-alcoholised using a spinning cone column: a low-temperature method of separating alcohol from the finished spirit, which removes the alcohol without stripping out the botanical character. This places the AF range in a distinct position within the category: rather than being formulated from scratch as an alcohol-free product, the botanical profile is built at full strength and then the alcohol removed, carrying the same flavour architecture across both sides of the portfolio.
The AF range carries wide multi-channel distribution, available through mainstream supermarkets as well as online retail. It sits in the mid-range price bracket and offers sober-curious drinkers a recognised premium name with a demonstrable production link to its full-strength counterpart.
