Purbeck Cider Company is a Dorset cider producer founded in 2006 by Joe Hartle, making alcohol-free and full-strength ciders pressed from its own orchards on the Isle of Purbeck.

Hartle started the business at his family's farm at Kingston near Corfe Castle, having returned from New Zealand with the aim of reviving traditional Dorset apple varieties. Production moved to Lower Bushey Farm off the Studland Road in 2016, where the company now farms over 40 acres with more than 15,000 trees covering more than 20 apple varieties, including Golden Ball, Tom Putt, and Prince William. A modern belt press installed in 2023 allows fruit to move directly from the orchard to pressing on the same day.

The production commitment is consistent across the whole range: 100% single-pressed British fruit, no concentrates, no artificial additives. The AF option is a 0.5% medium-sweet sparkling cider, gluten-free and vegan, with rounded apple character. It sits within the core range rather than being separated out as a distinct sub-brand, which reflects how the company positions it: a natural part of the lineup rather than an afterthought.

Distribution is direct and local: the farm shop, the brand's own website, and a small number of Dorset pubs and independents. Mainstream supermarkets do not stock it, which makes ordering direct the most reliable route for anyone outside the county. For sober-curious drinkers who want a craft cider with genuine orchard provenance rather than a supermarket own-label, Purbeck is one of a small number of regional independent producers working in this space.
