Reh Kendermann
Reh Kendermann is a German winery based in Bingen am Rhein, formed in 1997 through the merger of the Carl Reh and Hermann Kendermann wineries, and now one of the largest wine producers in Germany.
The Carl Reh side of the business traces its origins to 1920, when Carl Reh established a trading company for grapes, must, and wine in Leiwen on the Mosel. The merged entity is the market leader for German branded wines worldwide and remains a family-owned business managed by Alexander Reh. The company owns the Black Tower brand, recognised as the most successful German wine brand globally.
Reh Kendermann entered the alcohol-free category in response to growing consumer interest in mindful drinking, extending the portfolio through a Terroir wine range in which each label takes its character from a specific geological substrate. The alcohol-free variants are produced using vacuum distillation at low temperatures, a technique in which reduced pressure lowers the boiling point and allows alcohol to be extracted while protecting the natural aromas of the base wine. Reh Kendermann was among the first wineries in Germany to introduce temperature-controlled fermentation, and that emphasis on preserving aromatic character informs the AF production approach.
The alcohol-free Terroir range is available through specialist alcohol-free retailers, with the current AF catalogue focused on single-varietal white wine. Reh Kendermann's scale as a major German producer gives the AF range a production infrastructure that smaller, specialist AF wine brands cannot easily replicate.
