Verdant Brewing Co is a Cornish craft brewery founded in 2014 in Falmouth, producing hop-forward IPAs and ales from its base in Penryn, Cornwall, with a small AF lineup added in 2024.

The brewery was founded to fill a gap: the founders wanted more hop-forward beers available in the South West of England. Verdant built its reputation on hazy, juicy, heavily hopped ales and IPAs, and is widely recognised as having helped establish the New England IPA style as a benchmark in British craft beer. The operation in Penryn runs a brewery, taproom, and seafood bar alongside a direct-to-consumer webshop, independent bottle shops, and specialist retailers. The range includes a constantly evolving roster of small-batch releases alongside a small core selection.

Verdant entered the AF market in early 2024 with its first dedicated alcohol-free beer. Rather than brewing at full strength and removing the alcohol afterwards, a process known as dealcoholisation, Verdant uses a specialist yeast strain that cannot ferment maltose, the sugar that conventional yeast converts into alcohol. This allows the brewery to load the grain bill for body and hop character without generating significant ABV in the first place. The approach reflects the brewery's stated aim of producing an AF beer that carries the same hop intensity its existing drinkers expect, rather than a pared-back substitute.

The AF range is currently narrow, with a single IPA available through specialist alcohol-free retailers, priced in the premium bracket consistent with Verdant's wider positioning. For sober-curious drinkers who already follow Verdant's hop-forward output, the AF line represents the brewery's first deliberate step towards that audience.
